What is gum disease?

Gum disease is the greatest cause of tooth loss in the world. It is caused by the build-up of bacteria that live in your mouth as dental plaque and your body’s immune reaction to them.

The gum and bone around your teeth are attacked and may result in loss of teeth.

Virtually all gum disease is preventable and treatable if caught early and a high level of dental hygiene is maintained through your life.

Gum disease also has effects around the body, contributing to heart disease, damage to blood vessels and low birth weight babies. It is best not to ignore it!

We take the healthy foundations of your teeth very seriously.
